We at Austin have our own traditions, and without them the Christmas season just doesn't seem complete. The first sign of Christmas is the Muticutural Fiesta Night. Congratulations to the Connections Club, especially staff moderator Ms. Ricuttio, for putting on such an incredible event. - This past Sunday the Austin music department hosted the Austin Family Christmas. There were activities for the entire family - cookie-decorating, face- painting, crafts, Santa Claus and 'the focus of the afternoon, music. Congratulations to ail of our special guest performers, including Mr. Dashney, Eileen McGowan, Marguerite Demierre, Ursula Zielinkid, Keith Barry and Billy Caley. They are our fellow lassniates at high school. We walk by them every day in the halls, but seldom bother ta, notice them. Occaionally well say "hi" ta a few we deem worthy, but the rest are a blur. We live our lives at high school day by day, just living for the future. "AIl I want ta do is get out Of here,"i we thirîk. When we're gone, though, there will be so many things we'll miss. We'll no longer have ail the teachers we know and can joke with - the teachers who were there for us if we had a problem, or were willing ta give us a second chance when they could've just turned away. There will be no more of the peers we've known, many sinoe Iindergarten. We won't see themn at the local hangouts anymore, or share inside jokes. They will be gone, and so will we. Are you thinking about that when you decide to skip a class, or shaft a friend? Not likely. Once were gone, there's nothing we can do ta change the things we did. No amount of money or new fiiends can erase the past. High school is supposed ta a great time in our lives; free education, tans of friends, and plenty of holidays. How could we not enjoy it? Make it something we can look back on and smile about; don't lose touch with our past - it is irreplaceable. Decisions we niake eveïy day could affect us the 'rest of our lives, something we regret or cherish forever.
