An ail-round athiete, Theriauit is most accamplished as a softbali player. For that reason, she chose Cumberland - after receiving offers from 47 different colleges - because of the opportunity to play softbali two seasons each year -- in the spring and faîl. Theriault, who turns 19 on Dec. 30, has played catcher and shortâtop for Whitby and area teams. As a, meniber of the Whitby s~ho1rshi Hughes Hawks in midget bail in 1993, she batted .522 in league play. At an international tournament in Quebec, she was chosen to represent her teamn in an exhibition ail-star game againet the Quebec intermediate provincial champions. "Michelle is an excelent athiete and bail player," says one of her former coaches, Jim Morgan. "She bas very good power in her arme and legs and excellent spped on the bases."
