A star defenceman with the Whitby Dunlops, world hockey champions of 1958, Edward Patrick (Ted) O'Connor died at bis residence in Oshawa on June 13, 1996. He was 65. Born in Oshawa in 1930, Ted O'Connor was a multi-talented athiete, excelling ini hockey, basebail, lacrosse and fastbail. He played minor hockey while attending St. Gregorys Separate School ini Oshawa, and from 1947 ta 1951 was a member of the Oshawa Generals junior A hockey team. From 1951 to 1965, he played hockey for Tacoma, Washington, in the American Western League and the Hershey Bears, of the American Hockey League. In 1987, O'Connor was named a mernber of the Oshawa Sports Hall cf Fame. "Hie was probably one of the better athietes that the City cf Oshawa ever praduced," said Blair. Ted O'Con.nor is survved by bis wife Maddy, daughters Terri Lynn (and ber husband Kirk Jolinston) cf Peterbaraugh and Patricia Ann (and her husband Daniel Jobin) and Kelly Lee (and her husband Dave Nicholîs), bath of Oshawa, and son Thomas Patrick O'Connor cf Oshawa. He is also sèurvived' by grandchildren Kaley and Stacey Jolinston, Marie-Micheile, Jeremy and Nichalas Jabin; brother Tom O'Connor (who aise played hockey for the Whitby Dunlopa) and his wife Marie; sistesArme Gallas (and lier husband Mike)- and Kathleen Hooey (and her husband Gary) as well as many nieces and nephews.
