"It* will help in making decisions about- road and transit improvements and provide information for long- terni planning.» The first phase or the survey will involve the Greater Toronto Area including the regions of Durham, Halton, Hamilton- Wentworth, Peel and York, and Metropolitan Toronto. "This survey will help us better respond tel each community's needs," says Dalton. "The Population of the survey area is expected te grow te well over six million people in the next 20Oyears. We need te assesa how this will affect our transportation system and ensure that it can meet the increased requirements. This Is the third Transportation Tomorrow Survey. Information gathered in the 1986 and 1991 surveys has been used te plan a wide range of transportation activites in the Greater Toronto Area..
