Ranging from Provin- cially Licensed Nursery Schools, to gymnasium and craft activities for pre- schoolers, the "Y", 's programs are varied and in- teresting. Art appreciation often begins with a feeling of ac- complishment at fundamen- tal levels of skill. Kiddy Kraft incorporates this prin- ciple in teaching children, those up to 5 years old, how to create interesting paper projects using basic cutting and pasting techniques. Musical Movement, a fun program for children 4 & 5 years old, integrates music and dance and stresses self expression. The classes of- fered Thursday evenings from 6-7 p.m. involve syn- chronised movement to music. Toddler - Drop In enables parents to leave children to be babysat at the Centennial Building, Whitby, Friday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Supervised play for children ages 10 months to 5 years is available leaving parents free for the mor- ning! Children are left in the hands of competent and ex- perienced staff. These program alter- natives provide oppor- tunities for creative learning experiences which are dif- ficult to provide at home. Whitby man charged with arson A man has been charged with arson after a fire broke out in a Whitby apartment building on December 29, 1979, a spokesman for the Durham Regional Police said. The fire broke out at the residence of Carol Borchuk, 27, of 1526 Duffering Street, Apt. 1. Police said that the fire broke out at 1:47 a.m. and that damage to the bedroom was estimated at $3,000. Alter an investigation police charged James Mc- Neil, 24 of 1526 Dufferin St., Apt. 1, with arson.
