Servc*e expanded north A recommendation was made by the public works committee and passed that the town of Whitby extend the present contract with regional reclaimers in order to provide garbage collec- tion service for al of the residential areas north or Rossland Road. There are approximately 250 homes that do not receive this service. The cost of this service will be added to the tax bis for these homes as is done with the homes' in the rural area already receiving this ser- vice. The Public Works Com- mittee estimates this ser- vice could be carried out at an approximate cost of 34t per week per residence or $17.68 per year. Councillor Gerry Emm pointed out that a bin was provided near Groveside Cemetary for the 250 residents not receiving collection service to dispose of their garbage. It has corne to the atten- tion of Emm that the bin is being used not only by these designated 250 but by many others. The remnoval of this excess garbage is costing the town more than the collection service will now cost.
