During the severe storm that struck most of southern Ontario hree weeks ago, the bridge that links their homes to te rest of town was washed out, effectively stranding hem unless they walk about a mile along the leach to the nearest con- cession road. And it doe not appear as though the Central Lake On- tario Conservation Authority (CLOCA) will corne to their aid. Fred Brooks, one of the residents, said titat the authority was approached asking for aid to reconstruct the bridge but was turned down. Brooks, a working musician, said that since the storm ite has been unable to return to bis home to get his equlpment out and he is Iosing a sizeable portion of bis income. Since the storm, Brooks bas been living with bis mother in the West Lyntde subdivision. He said tbat CLOCA will flot give any belp to the residents. "They've washed their liands of thte whole tbing," Brooks said adding, "IL seems like hands off situation." If their appeal'to CLOCA ànd otiter levels of gover- nment doesn'L suceed Brooks said that "1we may have to build (a bridge) our- selves."
