New yacht yard helps bring new ife to harbor By EUGENE HENRY Tom Suthierland, Pickering-based owner of Neptune Marine Services at Frenchman's Bay and Burlington, Ontario has pur- chased that long-time vacant, plant at 1606 Charles Street on the harbour for a yacht sales and service facility and if all goes well in the summer weeks ahead. It should be ready for business soon after Labor Day this year. Neptune Marine has been operating successfully at Frenchman's* Bay and Burlington since 1970 and Sutherland looks forward to developing a sound and stable business here in Whitby. Using the new marina and congestion free harbour as integral elements of his operations here. Sutherland holds a sales agency for a full line of "Bayfield" boats that are built in Clinton , Ontario near Stratford and as such he will bring a sharp and ac- tive competition to the yacht sales scene at the harabour. With Neptune entering the picture in this way Charles Street bas become "Yacht Alley" for Whitby Harbour and at this point there are only two or three businesses left on the street, that are not harbour oriented enter prises. The Neptune plant will contain service bays for repairs, storage bins for yacht hardware, a customers lounge and high- style racks of serviceable sail wear such as parkas and storm suits.
