The Royal Bank was the top fund raiser contributing $1,223 to the campaign with the Bank of Nova Scot.ia second, giving $1,010. -Free Press Staff Photo Looking for carnival queen One of Whitby's most colourful and entertaining annual events, the County Town Carnival Queen Pageant, will be held Sun- day, July 20, at Henry Street High School, Whitby, 7 p.m. There will be no admittance charge. A Carnival Queen and two Princesses will be selected "-i trom a score or more 0f the most eligible of Whitby's beauteous young ladies by a teani of experienced judges . Successful contestants receive big cash prizes and will be presented to the town at the annual Peter Perry Award and Carnival Opening Dinner and Dance to be held prior to the week- long festivities. They will'be required to participate in the carnival Parade and to reign for one year. Everybody in the Whitby area is invited to corne and enjoy this evening of music and 'entertainment, com- pliments of the Pageant sponsors, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112, Whitby. Again this year, the incomparable Bert Heaver will direct and MC the Pageant, and Carolyn Allan applies her special talents in preparing the girls for their important role before the judges.
