All procedures are under the direction of qualified staff, and the program also includes a swim/water orientation session. Roche seeks election to separate ]board "Parents won't get in- volved in the goinga on of the school (sic> unless they know what's going on," said Charles Roche, a seven-year veteran of the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board. Roche will be running for re-election to the board on November 10 for another two year term. "The quality of education in the system is definately improving," he said. "We are certainly- getting a broader range of students. " Over the past seven years Roche has been involved with the salary negotiations committee, high school liason, transportation board, education policy board and the role description board. Currently he is working as a mathmnatics teacher at the Stouffeville Secondary School. He bas been a teacher for 13 years. Roche feels it is important that the board have a certain number of teachers as members. I'You have to have someone who is on the scene and in tough with what's going. on." "I think we have a real concern from parents and the church," he said. "We still need more parental in- volvement though. " one area which he feels this lacks in some cases is that of student dress . «"The parents and the church should be more in- volved* in the way their children dress.
