There were 700 present which made the floor a little too crowded for dancing. At mid- night favozrs of paper hats, toy horns, etc., were distributed and 1946 was ushered in with noise and hilamity. In the contest td select Miss New Year's Eve there weme 50 many pretty girls in love- ly gowns competing that the judges had a very dîfficult job to pick the winner. In fact, it rested between two contestants who were both so chamming and worthy of the award that the judges asked the spectators to de- cide and as their applause seemed equaily divided between the two, it was decided by the executive of the Brown's H. and S. Club to do- nate two prizes and therefore have two Miss New Year's Eves" who were Mrs. Glenn Brooks and Miss Pauline DeLine. Mrs. L. Headley, Toronto, and her daughter Miss Florence Mar- ilyn Headley who is a pupil at Branksome Hall, Toronto, visited the former's sister and brother-mn- law, Mr. and Mms. Cecil Fergusoli. An earnest prayer for guidance was offered by Rev. W. W. Paterson. He then conducted the impressive service of the in- stallation of off icers, and outlin- ed the program for the week of prayer. Mrs. Beman reported one new life member. A letter received £rom Laurence Morton was read by Miss E. M. Blackburn thanking the W.M.S. for their message of sympathy and fiowems during his mother's illness. Satisfactory reports were given by the secretaries. President Mrs. Aluin thanked the members for the help she had received during the year. Worship peiod consisted of Scipture eading by Mrs. T. Clarke. Mrs. Cooke and Mrs. Mellow off ered prayers, Mrs. J. B. Waitt favored with a vocal solo, Mrs. C. Carveth read "If Life Were ail Sunshine," and Mrs. P. Hare "A Bit of Living."
