PAGE TMAftAWO'UMBnWAVLL.OTU!lTUSAY UE~1ti ~ Tube rcu lin1 For Durbanr St.arting last Monday. June 8th was the opening of the Durhamn Tuberculin Test and Chest X-ray Survey and hun- dreds of mnen and women in Durham County will be work- ing te make it a success. Over 600 volunteers will be actively engaged, and it is to be hoped the public response to this free opportunîty for a tuberculin test, and a chest x-ray as well for those over forty, wiil be one hundred percent. Dr. C. W. L. Jeanes of Ot- *awa, executive assistant te the Canadian Tuberculosis Associa- tion, recently pointed out that the incident rate of TB in Sou- thern Ontario, and particulary in this area, is stili relativeiy high, and the number of cases in the over 40 age group has shown an increase. He aise war- ned that the new drugs whlch are so very successful in treat- ing TB do flot prevent the dis- ease. In view of these remarks, and the recent.announcement by the Northumberland - Durham TB Association of seventeen admis- sions to sanatoria from this area, since January of this year, it is ixnperative that ne one in Dur- ham County miss having a tu- berculin test when the oppor- tunity is presented them from June 8th. te July 3rd. Those over forty are asked te have an x-ray as well. This week a complete sched- ide of dates appears in this I amn a social Il Ilonestl am. In thc nur- sery rhymes "Sing a Song et Sixpence", " Four Limericks" and "Knick - Knock Paddy Wback", Uic club succcssfuily conveyed their own delight te thc audience. These were net easy numbers, but were real fun and exoeptionally well done. "Aloba 0e" was unac- companied and the harmany was sweet and especially good.
