Blond-haired, blue-eyed Cindy is not quite a year-and-a-half old and is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Shackelton and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Terrill of Newcastle. Senior Citizens This has been the best trip yet, was heard from fifty-two Golden Star Senior Citizens of Bethany and Cavan areas, as they returned from a bus trip to the Kitchener area. Colorful leaves and flowers added much to the trip as they visited Edward's Gardens and tnen by taklng back roads they arrived at the African Lion Safari at Rockton. John DeNure, the driver, made the trip most interesting by his commentaries as they travelled through Cambridge and Kitchener, where they stopped at the icKenzie King home. Universities and high rise apartments of Waterloc showed construction progress of many architectural varia tions. On to the Mennonite comm unity and retired farmers ol the group reminised as they saw men plowing in the fields with three or four horses or single or double plows. A horse and buggy was viewec in many areas and well kept painted buildings proved hard work had been involved. The men of the group visited a buggy making shop and there they learned that a new buggy could cost five hundred doli ars. Fields and fields of corr were passed as they wen through small Mennonite com munities and the journey waý concluded by an Octoberfes dinner of sauerkraut, sausage and potato at Petersburg. Other trips are being con sidered for this enthusiasti Golden Star group. On Wednesday, October 17 Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Crow will entertain with an old timi programme, starting ati o'clock in the Bethany Parisl Hall. Bowling bas become popular sport as a number o Golden Stars participate in th game every other Tuesday a the Copper Kettle Bowlinî Alleys. A euchre party bas bee planned for Wednesday, Oct ober 31. Library books ari now available. United Church Women The September meeting o the Bethany United Churci Women was held at the homi of Mrs. Ivan Ashbury, with thi president, Mrs. John Neals presiding. Mrs. Herb Coppins reporte on Christian Education, tell Y ing members of six new books that bave been pucbased for tbe Sunday School pupils, and also that a birthday box will b)e stated for the Sunday School pupils. Mrs. Irene McDonàld reported on fruit baskets and cards whicb had fbeen sent to shut-ins.
