Special The înternationally renowned organîst and choirmaster, Dr. Melville Cook, will be presenting an Organ Recital at Bowmanville's Trininty United Church on Sunday, November l8th, at 8:15 p.m. Dr. Cook is pictured above at the console of the five tiermanual organ in the Metropolitan United Church in Toronto, where he is the organist and choirmaster. Previous to his appointment in Toronto he has held similar, positions in some of the most prestigious churches and cathedrals in England and, in1966, was the director of the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. A music review in the English newspaper, The Yorkshire Post, said of Dr. Cook, "his performances are neyer less than brilliant. PEARCE A ife-long resident of Base bine, Darlington Township, Ross C. Pearce, passed away in bis 8lst. year, at Oshawa General Hospital, on Thurs- day, November 1, 1973. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Pearce, he was marr- ied in 1918 to Georgie Lang- maid, who predeceased him in Born at Base Line, he was a farmer and drover by occu- pation, and a member of Ebenezer United Church. Surviviing are bis daughters Velma (Mrs. Claude Smith), Thunder Bay, Louise, (Mrs. Clifford Rundie), Oshawa, and sons John, Oshawa, Brooks, R.R. 2 Bowmanville, 16 grand- children, one great grand- aughter. One grandaughter predeceased him, The funeral service was held on Saturday November 3, from the Morris Funeral chapel, with Reverend D. Harris_. officipting. Pall-bearers were Messrs. R. Bickle, Howard Pearce, J. Snowden, W. Snowden, and grandsons Warren Smith and Carl Pearce. Interment, was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
