Mrs. MacDougald is spend- ing some time with ber daughter Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Larmer, Doug ani Craig. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Noble of Uxbridge were Sunday even- ing dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Taylor and Betty Jane. Mrs. Roy Taylor and Mr. Arnold Taylor visited Anson Taylor in St. Michael's Hos- pital where he is progressing favorably following surgery last week. Mr. and Mrs. E.. R. Taylor, Enniskiiien, were Wednesday noon dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Larmer and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Toms. The A.C.W. Thursday Guild met on Thursday evening at the home of Helen Green. The evening began with a Dev- otional led by the hostess. Business inciuded a report that new tables for the Parish Hall are on order and details concerning the screens for the stained glass window. A thank you card was read from Karen Lomax. Lunch and a social time concluded the meeting. On Nov. l3th the Candace Unit of the U.C.W. met at the home of Margaret Mountjoy with 12 ladies and one chiid present. Unit leader, Aima Duff opened the meeting with a poem caiied "Snow". A short business section foliow- ed. Irma Strong gave a very fine paper on her thoughts on the Bible concluding with a iist of places in the Bible to which one might go for help. Meeting closed with benediction. A good Imany local residents attended the, Royal Winter Fair this year as usual. It is interesting to know that the Reserve Grand Champion, Hostein Cow was raised by Richard VanCamp and is now owned by R. F. Brown, Paris. Larmer Bros. entered some bariey and did exceedingly weli on their first try at the Royal. Their entry of two-row- ed barley won first prize in the Ontario and Eastern Canada Section and was second in the Open Ciass. Their entry of six-rowed barley piaced first in thie Ontario and Eastern Canada section and it placed Champion in the OpenClass (W- '-). Dave Larmer's 4-H' sý of six-rowed bariey wàýîieserve Champion in this same ciass. Congratulations to these and ail our other local exhibitors who bring fame to the Blackstock area. C.H.S. News The Cartwright High School Commencement Exercises were held Saturday, Nov. l7th at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. The evening was highlighted by: remarks fromn Principal Gordon Paisley and Board Representative Art Rowan; presentations of Sec- ondary Schooi Graduation Diplomas and Secondary School Honor Graduation Diplomas; proficiency prizes; scholarships and bursaries; and athletic awards. The Bob McLaughlin Memoriai Award was presented to Dale Van Camp. The Valedictory Ad- dress was given by Paul Mountjoy who is attending the University of Waterloo, Waterloo. The Glee Club performed three selections. They were directed by Mr. R. Ashton anid accompanied by Leslie Wright on the piano. There was aiso an amusing one act play "The Price of worked untirîngly in the kitchen were Carolyn's two paternal aunts, Mrs. Harvey Meek of Sandford and Mrs. Garnet Stiver of Uxbridge. Those who helped serve were Pamella Shirk of Green River, sister of the groom, Mrs. Katherine Devins of Iroquois Falls, sister of the br ide and Miss Caroline Lemoir of Lindsay, the maid of honor. The honored guests who were chosen to pour tea and coffee were two great aunts, Mrs. Zeila Rennie of Sunder- land, Mrs. Minerva Horn of Oshawa and- the maternaI grandmother Mrs. Roy Taylor of Blackstock.
