A month ago, Brooks were absorbing their fourth loss in fivematches, a humiliating, 10-0 trouncing by Muttons. Since then, Brooks have nailed down three triumphs, outscor- ing the opposition, 20-6. This Sunday the Supertest bunch will be gunning for their fifth win in nine matches, when they take on Spencer's in the 10:15 encounter. In the late game last Sunday, Walter Franks beat Spencers for the first time this year, by a 5-4 count. Spencers won the other games by 8-4 and 6-2 scores . This Sunday, Walter Frank, (3-5-0), take on the slightly, slumping Mutton bunch, (3-3-2), but winless in their last three games. In Brooks' scoring rampage in last Sunday's opener, ev- eryone but goaler, Ken Veitch picked up at least one point. Larrv Devitt. really rounding into peak form, had three goals and two assists. In bis past three games he bas connected for seven goals and six assists. Steve Burns, the league's top sniper with 10, fired a lone score, while aiding on four others. Gary Robt. Knott, 25, 3700 Keele St., Downsview, charg- ed September 9 that he did unlawfully attempt to steal a motor vehicle from Wilfred Vine, pleaded "not guilty. Mr. Vine operates a service sta- tion 16 miles north of Bow- manville. Mr. Vine saw Mr. Knott get out of a car on the lot and open up the car hood af ter having started the car with wire crossing. Mr. Knott ran into the bush and some minutes later was picked up by Const. Chalmers. Mr. Knott said he was only trying to start the car in order to get himself warm. He bas since paid for damage to the car wires. Judge Wills said his story was unreasonable and found him "guilty". He was put on probation for two years.
