PARASAILING - the latest craze in water sports is a safe and pleasant sport. The- parasail consists of a nylon parachute specially designed to give lift rather than simply colleet aIr. On a large platfonm -near the shore, t he parasailer is strapped into a seat harness and attached by a 200-foot lune to a ski boat When the boat accelerates the parasail lifts yvou hi gh into the sky - as much as 150 feet -for a iruly different experience. As the boat slows the parasailer loses altitude slowly and is gently deposited back onto the platform. There is no skirl req uired and no a ge limit. Everyone from children tofittle-old la dies h ave tried this latest water sport. PEBBLESTONE COURSE -owned and operated by the Sobil family, and situated north of Courtice, is sporting a jazzy new sign. Designed and built, by Steve Sobil, it is made entirely of wood -taken from trees on the property, and adds greatly to the- attractive- ness of the course, which is in excellent condition. BIG WIN -'The opening game on Monda y for the Locke's TV Electrons was certainly a dandy, as the Bowmanville squad with many new young players, flot only held las tyear's Ontario champs, Port Hope Flyers, but waited until the ninth to score the winning run. From the first appearance, the Electrons are going to provide excellent opposition this year. Ontario Minor Hockey Association, meeting in Toronto last weekend, made plans to continue their policy of strict enforcement of hockey rules in games played in the Ontario Minor. This group has consistently endeavored to keep hockey dlean and to endorse rules for the protection o f the young players. Ten years ago theypassed rules to enforce players to wear helmets and three years ago they were one of the first leagues toinsist goalkeepers were helmets, as well as masks, for the complete potection of the goalkeepers head. This rule, 50, far, has not been adopted by most other hockey groups. Last faîl at the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Annual Meeting a rule was adopted, expelIling, for the balance of the game, any player receiving a five minute penalty for fighting, butt ending or spearing. Although this rule worked well during the last season the executive is considering iincreasing the termi of this suspension and instructing, the referees to be more strict in all interpretation of rules.
