6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, September 4. 1974 qumuumm mUmm m m minmumu mo 623-3303 * FLASHBACK - 25 Years Ago - The hunters of Darlington Township will have their chance at the pheasants of the area on November 4 and 5. In order to participate in the pheasant hunt, residents and non-residents will have to take out licenses which may be obtained from any of the eight local game wardens:- Courtice - Herman Sweetman; Hampton - Livingstone Miller; R.R. 1 Bowman- ville - Howard Millson; R.R. 1 Enniskillen - Tom Wilbur; Enniskillen - Art Wilson; Enniskillen - Harold Mills; Tyrone - Harold Skinner; R.R. 2, Burketon - Wallace Pascoe. FLASHBACK -10 Years Ago - Bill Slaght Sr. and Ken Stalker had a fine bit of fishing in the Minden district over the weekend. They caught two big lake trout, 81/2 lbs. and 11/2 lbs. EVERYBODY INVOLVED - probably would like to forget the deplorable incident that broke up the Men's Town League Softball playoff game on Thursday night, but it's not that easy. We didn't arrive at the game until the fracas had cooled down a bit, so we can't give an on the spot report. But, from what we've been told, it was one of those things that should never have happened. Luckily no one was hurt, or there could have been injuries and assault charges. Those directly involved have been penalized and Kramps, as a result, have probably ruined their chances of taking the championship. It may be a good lesson to all concerned so that next year, umpires will not be subjected to constant badgering and threats. Their job is a thankless one at best. Surely they make mistakes, because they are human, so do the players. The affair wrecked what otherwise could have been a great playoff series. GRANT WADE RESIGNS - We don't know the inside story but were surprised to learn that two weeks ago, Grand Wade of Newtonville, had resigned as President of the E.O.B.A. The genial sports director of radio station CHUC, last week also submitted his resignation as an executive member of the OBA, when the pro- vincial body re-admitted Thorold Juniors to the OBA, when the provincial body re-admitted Thorold Juniors to OBA playdowns after Wade had thrown them out for failure to be ready by the deadline he had set.
