Six ladies from Kendal attended the Kirby U.C.W. Thank, Offerîng Service on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Carl Down, president of Oshawa Presbyterial U.C.W. was the guest speaker. The music was also enjoyed b yal. Mrs. E. Dobýson, Mrs. B. Jones, Mrs. M. Buckley and Mrs. >R. Elliott attended the Superannuated Teachers' Dinner on Wednesday, held in Simcoe Street United Church in Oshawa. The guest speaker was Mr. Causley, director of Superannuated Teacher-s of Toronto. He was able to, answer many questions of interest. Sorry to report Miss Cath- armne Stewart is confined to bed resulting from a car accident last Tuesday after- noon. Miss Marion McKelney has been spending some time with lher. Two evening classes started, this week in Kendal school. On Monday evening it is uphol- stering and on Thursday evening it is Cake Decorating. Mrs. Wmn. Turansky and two daughters, Corrin and Jackie returned home last week from a trip to British Columbia. Dr. and Mrs. Norman Mc- Kenzie of Toronto were at their summer home over the week-end andattended church on Sunday morning. The Rev. G. Montgomery chose as his sermon - The Most Unnatural Thing To Do. lie spoke on giving thanks to the Lord, a most fitting sermon for Thanksgiving Sun- day. Next Sunday. is Kendal Anniversary Service at 2:30 f .m. with Rev. Robt. Bartlett rom Welcome in charge. The Orono Choir will provide special music.' Mr. Roy Sleep passed away Sunday in Bowmanville Hos- pital at the age of 77. Funeral services will be held Wednes- day at 1:30 pm. from the Morris Funeral Home. He leaves to mourn him two sisters Mrs. N. Therteil and Mrs. Kirby. Mr . and Mrs. Neil Elliott and Karen spent the week end with friends in Moncton, New Brunswick, while David and Christine were with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. R. Elliott. Over two hundred elemen- tary pupils from local schools met in the Ganaraska for the Western Area Harrison races. The older group ran two miles, while the younger group ran one mile across country. The winners go on to another race near Rice Lake next Wý'ýednesday. Mri. and Mrs. Wayne Bailey. held their family Thanksgiv- ing dinner on Sunday. They had Mr. and Mrs. Roy Little and Lynn, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Dinner and family of Port Hope and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Neal and family of Newcastle. PONTYPOOL Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Youngman were Mr. and Mrs. John Giesel of Saskatchewan -and Mr. and Mrs. Colin Hetherington, Tor- onto. The Youngman family were guests at the Noel wedding in Cobourg. .Thanksgiving Day guests with Mr. H. Aiken and Tom were Mr. and Mrs. Orville Challice and Denise and Mr. and Mrs. A. Munneke, Orono. Mrs. Jim -Fajt. Cliff Rich- ardson and Ralph Hoy are ahl home after brief stays in hospital. The ladies of our church are serving a hot turkey supper on Oct. 25. Mr. and Mrs. Barrie Sytnyk entertaîned relatives from Orillia on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Neals and family were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Robertson, Omemiee.
