PHONE Letters to the Editor Dear Editor While driving through your beautiful town of Bowman- ville, going along Liberty St. North, 1 arn looking to buy some property in this area. This is what upsets me the most. The road will be widened along Liberty St. N., part of the property is sold, and it's amazing how people are cheated. They pay one person a few Ihundred dollars for the part of his land. The neighbor sells his samne amount of land for five times the amount this poor fellow got. Now l'Il ask you, Is this Fair? ? ? * Why don't they pay eey one the amount the property is worth and be fair about it. After talking to a few people down the road, it made me wonder if I really want to settie there. 1 wish to remain anony- mous. Sign me, Just Looking. Letter to Editor: 1 arn deeplv concerned that a fellow colleague has en- countered a great deal of problem in obtaining a build- ing permit in Haydon. Since this area falis under the Town of Newcastle's .jurisdiction, 1 personnaliy hold them re- sponsible for the irresponsible handling of Mr. John Liptay's housing problem. Why was he allowed to seperate the land and then refused permission to build upon it? Why was hie asked to deed land to the Town of Newcastle for road ailow- ance and then refused permis- sion to build because t he road was an unimproved road? Why didn't the council express tlieir concern when they were given the opportunity as pointed out by t he Ministry of Housing? It was my opinion that a council elected to serve the public should do that. Lt was my opinion that a public body deals fairly with its populace. However after observing the Town of Newcastle's council in action, I wonder by what edicts they rule over the land. When a family needs a house, why then must they become victims of irrespons- ible action by a publicly elected body? Sincerely, John M.
