4 ' The Canadian Statesman, Bowîinanville, November 6, 1974 KENDAL Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Stevens returned last week after a motor trip to Winnipeg, Bran- don and other points in the West. About twenty-five ladies were at the home of Mrs. David Skerratt last Monday evening for a Dorina Fashion display. The fashion advisor was Mrs. K. Skerratt from Prince Albert. Mrs. Skerratt's commission on ail sales was doniated to Kendal U.C.W. which amounted to $26.30. Mrs. Allen Downes the U.C.W. president assisted Mrs. Sker- ratt in serving the lunch. Grades 5 andi 6 from Kendal school heid a contest on constructing Haliowe&en characters. 'Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater' made by Sanidra Dennis and Donna Langstaff won first prize, while 2nd prize went to Lorraine Sunstrum and Jo- anne Wybenga who made 'A Wierd Person.' On Thur:sday evening, Hai- iow'en, many weird looking persons also beautiful dressed persons were knocking on our doors and ringing door beils. It was a big night for the chiidren and young fok. Mrs. Garland Cathcart and Mr. A. Thompson attended the Sunday School Workshop for S.S. teachers heid in Harmony United Church on Wednesday evening. Several high sehool students from Kendal were on the schooi bus involved in an accident Thursday morning at Kirby in the dense fog. Severai went to hospital to determine injuries. We understand there were no broken bones, cuts, bruises, sprains etc. Fortun- ateiy the Kindergarten child-, ren had just got off before this happened. Kendai Brownies under the leadership of Mrs. G. MeDon- aid and Mrs. G. Langstaff ieft Friday evening for a week-end camping trip at Camp Adel- aide in the Haliburton area. Mrs.- A Curtis beid a Cameo paint party Friday afternoon with Mrs. M. Sewell of Oshawa, the instructor, show- ing how to print and construct roses from organdy. Ladies from Kendal area attended Shiioh Bazaar on Wednesday afternoon and Kirby Bazaar on Saturday afternoon. Both proved very successfui. Next Saturday is Kendai bazaar Nov. 9th, Mrs. J. Stapleton, Mrs. T. Gosson, Mrs. K. Dykeman, Mrs. J. Henderson, Mrs. W.H. Foster and Mrs. R. Eiliott were among those froma Ken- dai who took the House Tour iast Saturday morning spon- sored by the Orono Kinettes. It was most înteresting to visit the beautiful homes, some were older renovated houses with antiques whiie others were new homes with very modemn settings. Last Sunday was Baptismnal Sunday in Kendai. AMrs. Ed- ward Carscadden \?was bap- tisedi and received into the mernbership of the church by confl-irmation of faith, aiso ther infant daughter Cindy, Ann was baptised. Rev. Mrs K. Wood took the organ in thse absence of Mrs. A. Foster and we were pleased to have the new speakers for the organ. Sâturday evening was a night for dancing for the Kendal folk. The Kendal Reereational Committee Dance was heid in the Village of Newcastie Hall. The Three- in-Qne Couples Club was invited to join the Jack and Jili Couplies Club a t a dance in the Lion's Centre in Bowmanviile, aisÏ'some cou.ples attended a Stock Car Races Dance in Petýrborough.
