Bow.-iaflville. November 27,1974 Section Two uaiIey Bridge' To be Replaced A new bridge will probably be built on Jackman Rd. to replace the old Bailey Bridge when the lease with the Ministry of Transport and Communications runs out in 1976. The question of what type of structure would' be built was debated at the Public Works Committee meeting on Nov. 14.Although Jack Dunham, Director of Public Works pointed out that the edjacent and fill site would likely becomte a park somaeday, the eommittee rejected a suggest- ion that the bridge be con- structed with a pedestrian sidewalk because the cost would be comparable to con- structing double land bridge. Coun. Ivan Hobbs suggested that the possibility of using the existing foundation and simp- ly rebuilding the superstruc- ture be investigated. The- committee passed a motion that it be recommend- ed to counicil that engineering costs for a new bridge be included in the budget figures which are due on Nov. 30th.
