In the first game played in Bowmanville, the fans were treated to a real goalkeepers' duel as both Britt Murphy of Bowmanville and Craig Elliot of Markham were "hot". Scott Stevens opened the scoring in the first period taking a pass from Don Farrow to give Bowmanville a 1-0 lead. Both teams were playing a wide open style of game at this point but could not cash in on their opportunit- ies.
