August 27th, 1975 OBITUARIES TRESSIA ANN GATCHELL In lher lOth year, Tressia Ann Gatcheli, died in Port Perry Community Nursing Home, on Saturday, August 16th, 1975, following a six week's illness. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Cine, she was born in Lanark County, Perth. In 1897 she was married ta James Henry Gatcheil. A resident of Burketon for 41 years she had previously resided in Pantypool. She was a member of* the Anglican *Church. Survivors are Peter (Burke- tan), David (Brooklin). Dina (Mrs. H. Abbott, Burketon), 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She was pre- deceased by Cecil and Mer- vyn. Mrs. Gatcheli rested at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral ~Homne for service, conducted by Reverend Evans, on Tues- day. Pail-bearers were Messrs, Laverne, Tom and Bob Gatch- ell, Jerry Abbott, Bill Mantel, tand Gordop Cary. *Interment was in Hampton *Cemetery. ROBERT G. MOFFAT A prominent 'citizen of the Clarke-Orono community, Robert G. Moffat, aged 73, died in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Monday, July 28th, 1975. Born in Orono, hie was the son of the late David and Agnes (Scott) Moffat, and was educated at Antioch Public School, and Orono continua- tion school. In 1930, hie married Gladys M. Rabbins. A farmer in Orono, hie was also Sec.-Mgr. of Durham County Co-Op Medical Ser- vices, and'late Secretary ta the Durham Caunty Senior Citizens Lodge. He -was a member of the Orono Masonic Lodge. A directar of Durham *Agricultural Society for sv eral years, hie had also served as assessor for Clarke Town- ship. Mr. Mffat was a charter member of Durham Farmers *Co-Op. He had recently retir- ed. Surviving are his wife, a daughter Patsy (Mrs. Jack Morton) R.R. 2, Bowmanville, and a son Harold of Orono. Reverend Basil E. Long conducted the funeral service on Wednesday from the Mor- 'ris Funeral Chapel. Pail-bearers were Messrs. Rae Stewart, Lawrence Stap- les, Hugli De Geer, Fred Yeo, Elmore Scott, and Harry Wade. Floral tokens were received attesting ta the esteem in which the deceased was held, from Durham, County Sr. Citizens Lodge, Board of Directors< of Co-Op Health Services of Ontario, Staff and Di'-ectors of Durham Farm- er's County Co-Op, and the Orono Masonic Lodge. Interment was in Orono Cemetery. There is stili one mare for the united service for Hope, Township Pastoral Charge will be on the manse lawn at Wecome provi ding it doesn't ramn. There has been one service on the charge each Sunday throughout the holiday and on August 24, it was at Garden HilI wîth the United Church Women in charge. t was conducted by Mrs. Bernice Wheeher with special music p rovided by five young boys, Scott and Cameron Gourhay, Mark and Joey Legett, Irwin Speckert with drums and guitars. The East Durham Historical Society has undertaken ta ist1 by one of its parents deman- ding food with vaice and rapidly beating wings. The next morning it had fhown against a window, and ai- though seemingly onhy stunned, did nat survive. Generally the larger birds which have this misfortune strike with such force, they die. A very large bird has been in the vicinity this past week or so, only one seen at a time and appears like a turkey vulture, but not seen close enough for positive identifica- tion. Mrs. E. Karvonen, Melody and Daniel of Scarborough, who are visiting with Mrs. E.
