Mrs. Beryl Whittaker and children, Cayman Is. and Mrs. Lord and granddaughter, New TO SEND A MAN TO QUEEN'S PARK WHO IS INTERESTED IN LOCAL ISSUES AND STRONG ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING POSITIVE ABOUT THEM It is dangerous indeed to have the whole riding depend on essentially a one industry base. Government is an industry and I can see no reason to concentrate it in the congestion of down-town Toronto. Why not insist that our economic base be broadened by moving some government into this area. The Pine Ridge School property in Bowmanville is the right site for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Darlington immediately east of Oshawa is the right site for the Ministry of Energy and even for Ontario Hydro. Both areas are owned by the Province of Ontario or its agents. Let's extend the GO-TRAIN to Oshawa and Bowmanville to make these sites highly accessible. Why the devil didn't the local incumbent Tory members fight for such self-evident causes? THEY DIDN'T.........................I WILL! Entwisle DURHAM EAST LIBERAL ASSOC. Newcastle Public School Newsletter Newcastle Public School opened its doors on September 2nd with 375 pupils in atten- dance. The enrolment in kindergarten was especially large. There is one addition to the teaching staff, namely Mrs. Marion McClure, formerly of Waterloo. She has taught there for several years in their primary division. She is teach- ing Grade Two here. A new bus turnaround has been made at the south end of the school. This permits the drivers to safely load and unload the pupils without blocking traffic. Our thanks to Mr. Cameron, who came up with the idea. Thanks also to the liard work of the Lions Club and the generosity of the citizens, a fine new swimming pool has been constructed adjacent to the school property. It will be well used in the years to come. The joint efforts of the School Board and Recreation Department have greatly improved and enlarged the facilities for sports. These will be a great asset to our physical education program. A special thanks to the Recreation for improving the softball diamond. Newcastle United Church News On Sunday, Sept. 7, Rev. David J.
