Club Speaker The Canadian Club of West Durham wili start another interesting season on Monday, Sept.29 1975 at 8:15 p.m. 'n Trinit United Church Hall, Bowmanville. The speaker will be Laura Sabia and hier topic will be "Womnen's Rights". Laura Sabia Mrs. Sabia is a mother of four children and is married to a doctor. A graduate of McGill, she speaks English, French and Italian. In 1963, she received a bursary from of University Women to>attend the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women. Her home is in St. Catharines where she has served on the Board of Education and as a City Alderman as well as aradio commentator on an Open Line Taik, Show. Her other com- munity works include Board member of the Children's Aid, President of the Y.W.C.A. and Board member of the United Appeal. While president of the Can- adian Federation of Univer- sity Women she brought together 35 national women 's organizations under the name of the "National Committee on the Equality of Women" which was successful is get- ting the Federal Government to appoint a Royal Commis- sion on the Status of Women. Mrs. Sabia received the Cen- tennial Medal in 1967 and was made an Offîcer of the Order of Canada in 1974. Our next meeting will be Friday, October 24 when Peter C. YELVERTON Congratulations to' Coachi Mrs. Eileen McCullough anci the Yelverton Jr. Girls on winning the former North Durham trophy this week for -the second consecutive year, vs Millbrook Jr. Girls in the first four games out of a four out of seven series. Homeruns were scored in the final game by Mary McCullough who has been a mainstay of the team ail year with her fine pitching, Liz Nettier and Beth Musson. Well done girls. On Sunday the Yelverton Rockets came back to life with a vengance to take the second gamýe vs Pontypool 13-9. The main difference between the last two, games was the batting. Yelverton boys finally found what they were for and put them to good use. Top batter for the day was Bryce Jimmo who had two - three baggers and one double and scored three runs. Donnie, Timms assisted by Dale Stinson in the last inning was the winning pitcher. ýBret Fallis and Dave Rafuse shar- ed the mound for Pontypool.
