Sharon Audrey Craig, aged 26 beloved wife of David Murray Craig, died Monday, September 22nd, 1975 follow- ing a year of illness.. She leaves a daughter Sherry Lynne, three years and a son Murray Jason one year. Sharon who gave so much to others in hier years of health, was laid to rest on Friday in Bowm4nvil1e Cemetery fol- lowing a service conducted from Morris Funeral Chapel by Rev. F. Halse of Calvary Baptist Church, Oshawa. The Bowmanville area had been home for Sharobn during the Iast 6 years. OBITUARY MARION MCKELVEY Af ter a few weeks of serious illness Marion McKelvey R.N. passed away at the Oshawa General Hospital on Sept. 18, 1975. Marion was born at Kendal the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hughi McKelvey (Janet Stewart). Later the family moved to ýKirby. After attending Kirby Pub- lie Schooi and Orono Continua- tion School she trained for a nurse in Ross Memorial Hos- pital Lindsay. After gradua- tion in 1930 she did private nursing for a number of years and later worked for fîve years at the Memorial Hos- ptal Bowmanville. On leaving Bowmanville she was employed at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto where she served hier profession faith- fully for eighteen years. On retirement from Sunny- brook Hospital she lived with hier brother John who survives hier. She was a member of the Kirby United Church and was a devoted member of the U.C.W. and also took part in other community activities. The funeral service was conducted by lher minister who spoke of hier devotion as a nurse and lier help to many people in times of illness. Th e many floral tributes spoke of the esteem of hier many friends and neighbors and there were a number of donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Paîl bearers were Edward Copping, Harold Cop- ping, Fred Graham, James Lowery, Lloyd Ransberry and Sid. Rutherford. Marion will be missed in the irby Community and it may be said of hier "Well done good and faithful -servant." Annual CNIB Blitz Oct. 20 Blindness can strike any- one. Every day in Canada the Canadian National Institute for the Blind adds 6 new namnes to its registry. There are more than 30,000 blind persons known to CNIB in Canada and in Ontario, ap- proximately 10,000. Our Peter- borough, CNIB District Office serves the blind of The Region of Durham and the Counties of Northumberland, Peter- borough Victoria and Hali- burton. In that area we work wîth approximately 700 regis- tered bind persons. In this district as in the country, we are continually meeting new blind persons. When you lose your sight where would you turn? In most cases the people in the process of losing their vision turn to CNIB. There is no other. CNIB offers special rehabilitation, counselling service, as well as specific services such as the white cane, the braille watch, talk- ing book service, rehabilita- tion teaching in the home and mobility training. In addition CNIB offers special training programns at our A.V. Weir Training Centre, Toronto - such as the 12 week course and gives the new person an opportunity of meeting other new blind persons, of discuss- Mary and Wendy Cornish, R.R.5, Bowmanville, are listed as two of the 4-H club competitors in this year's Queen Guineas Steer Com- petition at the Royal Winter Fair on Friday, Nov. 2lst, Nearly 350 4-H members are entered. The steer to qualify must have made an average daily gain of at least 2.1 lbs. during the period May 15 to Oct. 15 and Weigh at least 800 lbs by the Oct. 15 dead- line.
