A 1972 Cadillac owned by Ken Mclnnes of 51 Kirby Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba was lef t with damage estimat- ed by police at $2,500. The 6:40 p.m. crash also left the driver, Dale Roberts of 102 Lavale Drive, Winnipeg and two passengers, Tanyn Russel and Mary Davey with injuries, ail taken to Bowmanville Memorial by ambulance. The vehicle is reported to have been travelling east at the time when the driver is report to have swerved to avoid a small animal, went onto the lef t shoulder and coilided with the bridge. The mishap which has brought charges of exceeding .08 against Roberts. also re- quired the assistance of Bow- manville firemen who res- ponded with a pumper to flush down a gas leak. On Friday morning last, a 75 GMC van owned and driven by Gary Walker of R.R. 2, Brockville and a '75 Chev. Wagon owned by J. Anderson Smith Co. Ltd . and driven by Christopher Cooper of New- castle, collided at Ontario and Liberty Streets. The Walker vehicle was southbound on Ontario and stopped at Lberty ta check for oncoming traffic when struck from the rear by the Cooper vehicle. Investigation of the 7:40 a.m. crash, estimated damage of $50 to the Walker vehicle, $250 to the Cooper vehicle and brought a charge of following too close against Cooper. A second rear-ender at 1: 37 p.m. Saturday at the intersec- tion of Liberty South and King Streets left the two vehicles with a total of $425 damage. A '71 Pontiac driveri by Theadore Joseph Ruddy, 35, of 92 McGibbon Street, Port Arthur had stopped facing north on Liberty when stuck from the rear by a '73 Monte Carlo drîven by David Cook of 76 Prospect St., Bowmanville. The Ruddy vehicle sustain- ed $200 and the Cook vehicle $125 while Cook was charged with care and control and refusai to take a breath test. Finally, a single vehicle accident at 3:30 a.m. Saturday lef t Warren Witherspoon of 16 Frederick Avenue, Bowman- ville, uninjured while the vehicle he was operating, owned by Almore Witherspoon sustained damage of $200. Police report the vehicle, was travelling north on Scu- gog Street when the driver fell asleep, crossed the roand and Damage Ïo the signi and hedge alsototalled $200 while Witherspoon is charged with careless driving. Judge R. Bi. Baxter presided' with Assistant Crown Attor- ney N. McCrank and duty counsel M. B. Kelly. Frank Cowles, 42, R.R. 1, Hampton, represented by T. Kelly was charged dune 7 with driving after consuming over .08. He pleaded 'guilty'. Const. Ricard was despatched to an actident on Liberty St. N. Mr. Cowies had been driving a pick up truck. He collided with another car and then hit a bouse at 137 Liberty St. N. Damage to each vehîcle was $1,500 with considerable da- mage to the house, Tests wereý .17. He had two previous! convictions.
