Final details were arranged for the World Day of Prayer on Mar. 5 in St. Paul's when Bethany and Pontypool United Churches' will join in a program. Mrs.1 Helen Ficko will be guest speaker. A special invitation is extended to ail ladies to attend. As a, Centennial project, a guest book for the church will be purchased. Our warden, Chris Wood, will be' the welcoming member for Feb. and March.ý A banner for Centennial year is being designed by Mrs. Jane Siss- more, and a flag is being presented by Mrs. Pene Smelt. 1 St. Paul's will host a "quiet day" for the church members of churches in the surrounding area of, the diocese on Tues., Mar. 22 starting at 10:30 ar. Mrs. Marium Doveli, will be the guest speaker.' Starting March 10, special Lenten Services will be held in the home of members. The topic that will receive special consideration will be the changes in the rites of baptism and communion. Flannelette was purchased to be made into pyjamas which will later be sent in the bale. Women's Institute The February meeting of the Bethany Women's Insti- tute was opened by 'the president, Mrs. Hector Mor- ton, followed by the Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and the Lord's Prayer.1 The roll caîl "Wbat are you doing to conserve energy'?" was answered by all the members and visitors present. The answers were very useful hints and reminders of how to save fueland hydro in our homes, but as one lady said "don't tura down the heat and turn up the electric blanket on retiring for the nigbt". Mrs. Murray Smith was the program convenor and gave the motto "Baby it's Cold outside"'. Mrs. J. Neals and Mrs. R. Jarvest commented on "Ways to save'energy"~ with many useful hints. Mrs. V. Jackson rend excerpts from a paper on Solar Energy, a new way of hnrnessing energy from the sun and used to beat homes. Mrs. M. Smitb then told everyone "how to keep themselves wnrm with- out turning up the heat'", mainly by dressing n littie warmer around the bouse. The next meeting is on the afternoon of March 10. Senior Citizens The Golden Star Senior Citizens beld an interesting meeting despite the damp weather and slippery ronds. Mrs. Wiifred Strong, sec- retary rend the minutes of the last two meetings. A special birthday greeting was given to Mrs., Lyla Kerr, who will be ninety years "Iyoung" on Sunday, Feb. 22. An invitation wns given by the Kerr family to attend the open bouse in ber bonour on Sat. evening Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. in tbe Parish Hall. Mrs. Kerr's alert mind and happy disposition makes ber a favorite with al fellow senior citizens. This game should serve a few minutes of fun for us. Most attractive identifica- tion pins were distributed. The club donated one to encb member, but if a member fails to wear the pin at a meeting, tbey will be paying n ten cent penalty. A quilt wns finishedtoy and many canty stitcnes make it an attractive article. Our library is popular among many members, but anyone wishing to share their paperbaceks will be very mucb appreciated. Due to the inclement wea- ther, Mr. Dixon of Biock and Block Income Tax was unable to attend the meeting and the two car loads fromn Omemee Senior Citizens also sent thein, regrets. However, Mr. Dixon gave an invitation to anyone to phone in to bis office (743-3641) with any questions tbey xish nnswered.
