The 29 year-old Romero, winner at Daytona in 1975, once carrîed the Number 1 plate in the United States and is still considered one of that country 's leading riders. Con- sidered a charger, Romero bas many times beeni the victim of poor machinery and as a resuit, has seen several championships slip away from bis grasp. It is felt, however, that he will produce a strong chal- lenge for 24 year-old Baker. Romero will be riding on a Yamaha which is similar to the machine to be driven by Baker. Duhamel meanwhile, rates in the top five motorcycle riders in the world and is known throughout North America for bis expertise on the two-wheeled machines. The 36 year-old Duhamel, who is also an outstanding snow- mobile driver, will no doubt present a serious threat to defending Canadian Champ- ion Baker.
