Propose On-Site Meeting to Discuss5 King St. Repairs The Town of Newcastle works committee kicked off an inves tigation of the Bow- manville, main street and main street sidewalks follow- ing the committee's August meeting Jast week. One of the first steps, which lias yet to be approved by council, will be 'an on-site meeting between regional, provincial and town officiais to discuss King Street repairs. But even though the wheels have been set in motion to f ix the main street, it could be another three or four years before repairs actually get under way and are finally completed. "I think you're looking at at legst a three year project," Newcastle Mayor Garnet Rickard said last week. And the town's director of works, Jack Dunham said it could be 1980 before the Region of Durham got around to repairing King Street. A zucehinii, you say9 But isn't it a squash? Food specialists at the Ontario Food Council, Minis- try of Agriculture and Food, confirm that zucchini is in fact, a type of summer squash. It differs from the winter squash varieties in that it lias a soft skin and loses its moisture rapidly. Therefore, the storage period is very short.1 . Ontario zucchini can be eaten botli raw or cooked, and because the, whole thing is eaten, peel and ail, there is no nutritional waste. Raw, it makes an interesting addition to a raw vegetable tray, alongside a dip, as well as to saiads. Cooked the stir-fry method, zucchini becomes another "easy to prepare and serve vegetable. Zuechini does not freeze well since it loses muc'eh of its water and its texture becomes rubbery. Enjoy it instead in its I fresli form.
