BOWMANVILLE, 6 IlfO OTOBER 20, 1976 SECTION TWOb lt oe0v rB akt è On Saturday, rabbits by the hundreds, and of ail makes and models,: took over the curling arena at Blackstock for the Annual Confer'ence and Show of the Ontario Council of Rabbit Clubs. The event was hosted by the Central Ontario Rabbit Breeders Club. The curling rink was filled with rabbit filled cages as breeders fr om many parts of Ontario gatbered for the event. InclUded were young representatives as well from the Trillium Youth Rabbit Breeders Club and displays by the Durham 4-H Rabbit Club. The Hon. William Newman, Minister of, Agriculture and Food, was scheduled to be the guest speaker at the evening banquet, but bis father had K died and he was unable to attend, so Durham Regional Chairman Walter Beath who was to bave presided at the M opening ceremonies, took his place. A. O. Dairymple, Agri- cultural Representative for this area, filled in for Mr. Beath to officially open the event. Agriculture Representative A. 0. Daîrymple welcomed the visitors from many parts of Ontario and officially opened the Conference early Saturday morning. At lef t is Elmer Huggins, President of the Central Ontario Rabbit Breeders Association that hosted the event. An attractive display prepared by the Durham 4-H Rabbit Club points out the Tales of Ms. Versatilýe Rabbit. This huge black and white bunny, with long ears, caught the eye of the Statesman photographer and posed nicely. Several of the, large tro hies that were on exhibit in the space reserved for the Trillium Youth Rabbit Breeders Club, along with other articles. Andrew Bryczka came all the way from Ancaster to show somne rabbits, includîng this 'bundle of black fur that he was very proud of. This white bunny seemea to enjoy -the judgle's attention. It didn't move a muscle whlehe-a checking it out. Several judges' stands were set up throughout the arena where the judges from Canada and the United States assessed the merits of each rabbit.
