It turned out to be a welh played game witb Cou- gars turning in a strong checking game holding the fine shooters to a 5-3 count with some superb first baîf goaltending by vetran Ron Fowler in Courgars net. In a game where the tendency is to follow the play of your own home team, missing some of the excellent plays by your opponents, an appreciation can be gained watcbing this game, noting there are several fine players throughout this league. And to prove there is stfili room for the smahl men in hockey, two of tbe selections as Stars of the game were just, that, small men. Cobourg counted the first goal, Tom Sharpe from Steve Witeveen, the, only shot to get by Eagles Lenny Chappell in net for the first period. Speedster Frankford's Jean Doucette thed the count ýassist- ed by inemnates Rory Gibbs and Ted Puk. In the second, Stars went abead on a power play goal, Ted assisted- from Port Hope's Drad Davis and Barry Roy. Cougars' Ken Stevenson got the tying goal assîsted by Jack Morris and Randy Saghuce. Jean Doucette got the go ahead goal setup by Rory Gibbs to finish the second period. Cougars tied the score earhy in the third. John Buckley fromn Rick Stevenson and Tim Fontain. The Port Perry line took over for the Stars, -the game winner and insurance goals by Doug Christie with Gord Scott and John Scott assisting on botb. The Tbree Stars of the game for each team were Cobourg goaler Ron Fowher, defensive centre Ken Stevenson and Left Winger Doug Choimnere. For the Stars, mini speedster Frankford's right winger Jean Doucette, Bowmanville play- maker centre Rory Gibbs and Port Perry's dead -eye centre Doug Christie. Witb this win in the records for Coach Bill Cosburn he can return to the big task at hand tryingto nail down first place in the league, no easy job.
