Bartlett's message to the children concerned the New Year and încluded mention of the Moderator's message that, "Here is 1977, grab it and run with if. Make up youIr mid that you're going f0 give if all you've gof." Each day comes once and then is gone beyond recaîl. Make fhe mosf of if! The choir's ant hem was, "God is a spirif, and must be worshipped in spirit and in frufh. " Message for the morn- ing was f ifled, "Our resolves, and his love." January of each year is a time of beginning again, and even if no resolu- tions are made, if is well f0 take stock of how we infend f0 use the, days of the coming year. The nexf few weeks will see many meetings of differ- ent organizations of the church f0 review and plan ifs work. On New Year's Eve, Rev.' and Mrs. Barflett enfertained members and adherenfs of the fhree churches, Canton, Gar- den Hill and Welcome, at Canton Hall. During the even- ing George Stapleton showed movies of local scenes; al enjoyed games including some requiring music which was supplied by Mrs. Bartleft and Mrs. Evelyn Wilson. There was a sing song and special mnusic provided by a group wifh guifars, banjo and piano. The energy used for all fhe acfivify created a hearfy appefite for thebounfiful and delicious refreshmenf s and lafer in the evening Rev. Barflef t conducfed a, fitting service for the dying minutes of fhe old year. This concluded jusf af midaighf and the new year of 1977 was welcomed in with joyous din, and greet- ings and besf wishes ex- changed from friend fo friend. Whefher food is becoming scarce or more birds are gathering in one spot, there have been a few more round the house lafely. There is jusf enough snow to make the counfryside lovely and pro- vide a nice backdrop for the colourful pattern woven by fthe bluejays as they swoop from feeder to feedtr and dash af fhe upside down heads of sunflowers f0 knock off the few remaining seeds. Gener- ally boss of fhe birds af the feeder, if was amusing f0 see a hairy woodpecker chase one blue jay away and also see the lit fie tree sparrow fly af a downy, with wide open beak.
