Letter to Editor Dear Editor, 11God Save the Queen" The news that The Canadian Bar Association is attempting famnilies are from Ajax where they entertain regularly -with maec shows. Tis summer, they have been performing an average of about two shows per week. to replace Queen Elizabeth as head of State by a Canadian is unacceptable to millions of Canadians. Neyer in the history of monarchies has there been a Monarch, who s0 completely filled the role and requirements of State and God. We feel honored and fortunate in having a monarch with such love of people as head of statein Canada. She is also the head of The Anglican Church in Canada and as such, besides hier, mein, there is an aura of sacredness about hier. Last year, Mr. Trudeau stated, "Canada has always been a humane country." This' is a truth for which we are thankful. It should not, however, lessen as it affects Canadians of Anglo-Saxon origin. We are in agreement with giving refuge to the oppressed of other cultures but as Canadians now, should they be accommodated to the extent of making our country like the countries New Canadians have ieft--sans monarchies? t does not seem right. Most New Canadians have great admiration for Queen- Elizabeth and hier family. .We wish most strongly to keep "our gracious Queen" as head of State. People need 'somethîng or someone of beautiful character and integrity to look to in this materiaiistic world. Queen Elizabeth gives everyone a person to respect and admire and a head of state to whom love and ioyaity juÈt naturally beiong. Signed Marie Henry summer program for children. Legislation raising Ontario's legal drinking age to 19 from 18 was passed by the legislàture in June and takes effect December 31. Grossman aiso said the amendments will put the onus on licencees to make sure they are not serving minors. Restaurants and bars will be fined from $500 to $10,000 and will have their licences suspended if they are caught serving minors. They will have the legal right to refuse entrance, to minors. Under the new law, open botties will flot be permitted in public places. Prior to this amendment, it was illegal to consume the contents of an openbottie in a public p lace. Police now will be able to seize liquor from persons charged under this amendment and municipalities will have the rightto pass bylaws making possession of liquor illegal in parks, stadia and arenas controlled by the municipality.
