About 35 attended and an enjoyable time was had byail with the guest of honor receiving gifts, flowers and cards. As she is a former resident of Newtonville we want to add our Best Wishes, also! Glad to report Miss Bernice Milligan returned home from, Oshawa GeneralHospital last week and we had a littie chat with ber at the Post Office one day. Sorry to hearof the passing of Mrs. Norma Sheppard Anderson, in Peterborough, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher were among those who went on the Bowmanville Senior Citizens Bus trip last Monday, to Collingwood. They stopped at Staynor for lunch and had a conducted tour of Ceramîcs at Blue Mountain and Simcoe County Museum with supper at the place looking out over Lake Simcoe. Altogether a very pleasant and colorful day was enjoyed by all the passengers. The District Women's Insti- tute Executive met here last Thursday to plan for the Fun Fair, to be held here in the Sunday School Hall on Oct. l8th. The theme is to be "Christmas" and there will be draws of varlous kinds with members contributing and of course lunch, etc, at the close. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week there will be a course in Needlepoint at the Bowmanville Department of Agriculture, two members from here atten 'ding. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Jones arrived here fromn Edmonton on Thursday to visit Mrs. Bea Jones and other relatives. .Master Ken Gilmer was one of the pupils fromn Grade Eight at The Pines Senior School who enjoyed a trip to Camp Tawingo recently. Over 100 pupils were in the group who left here Oct. 2 returning Oct. 5 after a very pleasant time. Grade Seven went to Ottawa, at that time. We' have been asked to express the appreciation of a Bowmanville couple to three young men (names not known> from Newtonville, who came to their rescue on Sunday, Oct. lst when they became iost in the Durham Forest- Region. Many thanks again! Mrs. Margaret Burley and Mrs. Mae Burley of Newcastle were visitors with, Mrs. Agnes Burley, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rowe and Tiffany and Mrs. Gertie Rowe were guests at the Taylor- Rowe wedding on Saturday afternoon at St. Paul's Pres- byterian Church, Port Hope, and reception following. Visitors the past week with Mr. Frank Gilmer in Memor- ial Hosjuital included - Rev. A. Tizzar, Mrs. Mary Worrall, Mr. Lyle Lowery, Mr. Ken Fletcher, Mrs. Bea Jones, Mr. Cecil Payne, Mr. Jim Gilmer, daughter Lynn, and friend Ken Swales, Miss Inez Sy- mons, Mr. Joe Radznikynas, Mrs. Lena Clysdale,- Mrs. Irene Burley and Mr. Ray- mond Gilmer. Erma and Reid Wood were the Greeters at our Church door Sunday morning, when the theme of Rev. Tizzard's sermon wvas "Canada -a South Land". He stressed the importance of remembering among other blessings this Thanksgiving period, that the Grace of God comes to us, in unlimited supply daily. The Choir's offering was "The Prayer of Thanksgiving"' wîth Marlene Stacey singing the first verse. 1
