Two fire alarms set off within a haîf hour of one another had the Newcastle Fire Department scrambling last Thursday. Bowmanviile fire station answered a call at Pine Ridge Training School at 1 p.m. that turned out to be a false alarm. The Training School is one of 22 protected properties in Newcastle which has an alarm system hooked up to the fire stations, says Chief Jim Hayman. When thesprinklers or heat detection system are tampered with,' the alarm automatically is sounded.
