Allan Turney and Brian Massey both picked Up assists on Ralph's goal. This was the only goal David Young gave up however as he turned in a solid game for All Season Sports, and helped them to a 3-1 victory. On Monday, December l8th, the Delta Faucet Midgets travelled to Port Perry and played a very lack lustre game losing 4-3. After being behind 4-0 and completely outplayed for 212 periods, Bowmanville finally started to wake Up and saved the game from being a rout. Grant Brock scored the first Bow- manville goal, assisted by Marc Richards. Then Marc Richards scored on a hard slapshot from the right wing unassisted. Steve Maguire rounded out the Delta Faucet scoring with Grant Brock getting the assist. Our boys aIl seemed to be showing signs of a hard weekend, lacking zip and desire. We hope this loss will wake them up and get them playing with more enthusiasm and drive in order to get back on the winning track. On Tuesday evening, the Delta Faucet boys went to Bay Ridges and, though losers by a 6-1 score, played exýcellent hockey. Bay Ridges are the tops in the league being undefeated this season. For two full perîods Bow- manville matched the Ridges in every department and held them to a 1-1 tie. But for three goal posts the Delta Faucet lads could have been ahead, as they were a complete turn- about from the night before, showing hustle, good checking and actually dominating the play. To try and pick a star for Delta Faucet would seem impos- sible as every boy worked hard and deserves credit for a fine effort. By matching Bay Ridges for two full periods our boys should realize that the Ridges team can be beaten and possibly before the regular season ends, we will do just The Major Atom Toros chalked up another victory on Saturday, December l6th when they beat Markham 5-4 in one exciting game, in fact it was s0 exciting I heard they had to carry 7 of our boys mothers out at the end of the game, just too much for them. Peter Hughes over powered the Markham boys by getting 3 goals and 1 assist, and was Pete's second hat trick in 3 games. Mark Hickey also played an out- standing game by getting 1 goal and 3 assists as did Jay Kelly. Jay picked up 1 goal and 1 assist, hard working Mike Knight also getting an assist. Ed Paradis, Greg Martin and Dan Moriarity added much to the victory with some good solid hockey. Super goaltending by Todd Balson kept the team on top, and hard hîtting by tiger Mark Smith kept the Markham boys, on the bottomf. Keeping track of centre Kelly Balson, on the face off, I watched hlm steal the puck 16 out of 7 times, well done Kel. 'Defencemen usually have very littie said about them but without Chris Moroz, Warren Short, Peter Huges and, Ian Whaelock to turn the play around at our blue line, this team would not be tops. There were 6 penalties in the game, 5 going to Markham, the Toros kept their cool and it won the game for them. Lose to Oshawa Canadians In the Port Perry Arena Dec. 17th Bowmanville Bulîs were defeated 5 to 3 by the Oshawa Canadians. The Canadians scored 1 goal in the first period, 3 goals in the 2nd period then our boys got tough and scoreil 3 goals in the 3rd period but time ran out on Toros and theywere unable to get the equalizers. The star had to be Ken Van Duesen, goalie for the Canadians, the Bulîs tried get the puck between the pipes. The boys that found a small hole were Kelly Galson assisted by Jay Kelly, Mark Hickey unassisted and Peter Hughes unassisted. The Toros picked up 2 penalties, Canadians none.
