At a complete surprise a dinner and dance was held on Saturday evening at the Centennial Hall, 'Bowman- ville. Mr. Wm. P. Irwin has been moved from the Scarborough Hospital to the Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harris were Friday noon dinner guests of her mother Mrs. George Morton. The Senior Citizens enjoyed a Social Time of games and refreshments last Monday afternoon in the Main Hall of Orono United Church. Among the guests from Orono at the Youngman anniversary party were Mr. and Mrs. Lance Plain, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wllis and daught- ers. Mr. Arthur W.* Clough, age 94, husband of the late Nellie Bissett passed away on Monday, February l2th at the Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville. Complete funeral service was held on Wednesday after- noon from the Barlow Funeral Home, Orono. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Morton with his mother Mrs. Geo. Morton for' noon lunch on Sunday. Mrs. Alex Watson is now at the Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville. Mr. Clîff Cooper recently returned home from the Oshawa General Hospital. Mr.,Harold Hooey, age 75 - husband of Kathleen Allen Hooey formerly of Orono passed away on Saturday, February lth at the General Hospital, Oshawa. Funeral service was from the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville on Monday afternoon. Mr. Ralph Geach retired from driving after 32 years 8 months, also Mr. Melville Samis after 20 years service with Charterways. A dinner and dance was held in Lions Centre, Cobourg on Friday night, Feb. 9th in their honour. Beautiful gifts were presented by Charterways Transporta- tion Co. Best wishes on a happy retirement. TYRONE* On Tuesday, February 6, 1979, the, 4H Homemaking Club held its first meeting. This unit is calleci "Accessories - The Final Touch". Accessories are those good looking extras that you team up with different outfits to make a few clothes seem like a lot. The meeting opened with the 4H pledge and motto. Mrs. Wheeler and Mrs. Elliott are the unit leaders. As 'a resuit of elections Judy Kovacs is President, Karen Vaneyk treasurer and Ruth Baker secretary. The leaders explained the purpose and content of this unit. Juniors are expected to make one accessory and the seniors two. In group dscussion the sub- ject was basic wardrobe colour, each, person conclud- ing her npersnal colur type TV, Hamilton, to be seen on March 11, 1979. A bus load of senior citizens and parents left Bowmanville at 1: 30 a.m. and was back by 5:45 p.m. On' February 25th senior citizens from the area are invited to watch the action while Newcastle puts on the show.
