The Solina Women's Insti- tute 'met ini the hall for the March meeting a week earlier because of our Casserole Luncheon being the second Wednesday. After repeating the Mary Stewart Collect the president Mrs. R. Best read one of Mark Twain's quotes which related to the Collect. Mfter the reading of the minutes, treasurer's report and correspondence were read by Mrs. M. Vice, some of the business was condu.cted. Mrs. B. Tink, Mrs, F.'West- lake and Mrs. J. Snowden were asked to be a nominating committee to get a slate of officers for the coming year to bring to the Aprîl meeting. Al assistant conveners are to have reports ready. After several requests for a recipe book of the casseroles we serve at our luncheon we are going to have recipe books ready for sale at our 1980 luncheon. Mrs. 1. Baker, convener of Citizenship and World Affairs was called on for the program. Mrs. M. Hancock gave a reading "Spring Almanac" which was good advice for spring . Catharine Baker favored us with two solos "One Tin Soldier" and "Country Rose", she was accompanied by Mrs. D. Taylor at the piano. Mrs. J. Knox commented on the Motto "A reason a god has s0 many friends is because he wags his tail, instead of his tongue." Catharine sang another solo "Belîs of St. Mary's", then Amber Taylor joined her and they, sang a duet "Scarborough Fair." While our 'speaker Mr. William Campbell was setting up his projector for pictures we. answered the Rol Caîl, "IName something that has helped to improve the world in our generation." Mr. Campbell who is with C.L.O.C.A. explained to us how the Central Lake Ontario conservation Authority operates. There are 38 authorities across Southern Ontario. It was established in 1958. Hurricane Hazel spurred on the wateshed protection and flood lains. 1This authority covers 242 sq. miles and it is completely in Durham Region. The work involves the monitoring of Stream flow and the water level, the weighing and sampling of snow. Within the authority are areas. The pictures he showed us includ- ed ways of stopping erosion of the soil, Reforestration, Purple Woods area in North shawa- Where tbey will be making maple syrup and have tours. Mrs. B. Hooey thanked Our speaker for coming and enlightening us on the C.L.O.C.A. Mrs. R. Best then resumed the chair and finished the rest of the business. Chairman Judd Buchanan.
