On Monday, April 2nd, the flag was hoisted at the Bowmanville Police and Fire Building by Newcastle Mayor Garnet Rtickard and representatives of the Cancer Society. A $20,000 objective for local fundý-raisers bas been set. On March 31st and A prfil st the Annuai Little N .H.L. Tournament was held in Oshawa, with the Toros being squeezed out in the second game. In the first game, the Bowmanville squad outskated the Mgjor Canadians in their own rink, beating them 5 to 3. Peter Hughes shot the Toros out in front with a hat trick, (congratulations Pete). First two goals for Bow- manville were scored by Pete assists going to Ian Wheeiock, Mike Knight and Mark Hic"key. Captain Jay Kelly pickedup the Toros next, assist going to Ed Paradis and Warren Short. Pete again scored. assisted by Mark Hfickey, the Mark scored, Mike and Pete assisting. Ken Cameron played a big game lu net for the Bulîs, sending.the Canadians to the consolation side. Defenceman Chris Moroz chalked up a lot of ice time in tis game and played superb- ly. Dan Moriarity working, very hard too. Ten penalties cailed in this game, 3 to the Toros. In the second game,qRow- manville and Ajax squared off, both teams deserving to win, as they worked very bard but the Rails losing 3-2. It might have turned out dif- ferently if it hadn't been for a mix Up in the time keeping, aliowing Ajax to serve only one minute and 20 seconds of a two minute penalty. The referee decided after the game was over our coach was right, but could do nothing. (the breaks). It was a tough game for goalie Todd Raison to lose, as he played so well in the Toros net. With some fine goal tending at both ends the scores could have been considerably higher espec- iaiiy for the 'Photographic' team. Larry Sim pson started things roiling from the open- ing faceoff from Sandy Brown and Wayne Murphy just 12 seconds into the game. The first period ended 1-0 which was fairly eveniy matched. But the second period is where Hunt's Photography broke loose as they pordo the pressure, scoring three unanswered goals. Brown opened the period with a biast six seconds into the period, picking the corner beautifully assisted by Dale Copithoru. Paul Siemon scored a minute later from Copithoru. Before the period was over, Hunt's took a 4-0 iead over Hooper's on a goal by Wilson who was unprotected at the side of the net, assists going to Brown and Siemon. Iu the final both teams repiied once to round out the scoring. Hooper's lone tallj came from Eric O'Donne, assists to Bruce Osborne and Joe Burns. H1unt's Sandy Brown rounded out his two goal and two assists perfor- mance with the aid from Larry Dion. He gave helpful tips on how to run an efficient meeting. Betty Peebies, a decorative, judge with the Royal Bontan-' icai Gardens, demonstrated new ideas for preparing and arranging flowers. Her theme was interpretive design which she said dominates most flower shops today.'
