It was an enjoyable evening for ail! Mrs. Bea Jones, and Mrs. Violet Glmer were dinner guests, Monday, with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chard and girls, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lancaster, in Newcastle. There was a good attendance at the Gideons' meeting, Monday evening, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. M., Jones. Congratulations to our local Brownies and their leader, on clearing the sum of forty-six dollars, at their recent Bake Sale, in Newcastle. Supper guests, laWst Monday, with Mr. and Mrs. Gien Stapieton, and family, were Mrs. E. Austin, of Port Hope, and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Hall of Cagary, Aberta. Among those enjoying the Band Concert at the Durham Christian School, Wednesday night were Mrs. Lena Clysdale,1 Mrs. Doris Tompkins and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stapleton and family. Robert Tompkins and Ken Gilmer were among those ini the band. Mrs. Elva Osborne, of Canton, Miss Inez Symons, of Morrish, and Mrs. Violet Gilmer, Newtonville, were luncheon guests, last Wednes- day, in Oshawa, with Mrs. Deane Redknap, and her mother, Mrs. Alice Rowe- Sleeman, of Toronto, wbo was visiting ber. A birthday party in honor of Mr. Don Fletcher was beld, recently, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bebee, in Agincourt.- Those attending, besides the guest of honor, included Mrs. Audrey Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher, Miss Maria Fletcher, of Kingston, and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Fletcher, of Downsview. An evening of singing, and dancing, was enjoyed by ail. Mrs. Bea Jones, with Mr. and Mrs. Melville Jones, were Thursday evenîng guests, with Mr. and Mrs. Brian Stripp, at Port Granby. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher were among those attendmng the Senior Citizen's regular meeting in Newcastle Com- munity Hall, Thursday even- ing. There were over seventy there and ail enjoyed the music provided by Rev. Tom Smith, Mrs. Audrey Scott, Mr. Don Fletcher, and others. Appreciation was expressed to the Social Committee, Mrs. Jose, Mrs. Kay Kimbali, and Mrs. Helen Nesbitt, who arranged the program. Mn. Jim Adams returned home last weekend from bhis holiday trip to Winter Harbor. About twenty-five members were present at tbe Annual Meeting of Newtonviiie Women's Institute, on Wed., April 18, at the home of Mrs. May Burley, Newcastle. Beginning with a pot-iuck dinner at 12:30, the Institute Grace was sung, and a bountiful meal was enjoyed by ail. At 2 p.m. the meeting was held, after the Institute Ode was sung. President Bernice. Milligan called on Sec. Treas. jean O'Neill for the minutes of the' previous meeting, wich were adopted, as read, and the Financial Report followed, showing a satisfactory balance. May 1 - 31 wili be Family Unity Month. A note of tbanks was read from Cheryl Vardy for the Stick Pin presented to ber prior to ber moving away. at Mapie Grove, May 9tb, at 9:30 a.m. Bernice Milligan, Queenie Fletcher and Sharon Buttery will be the tbree voting Delegates, there. Appreciation was expressed to Madeline Buckley for so caably arranging our- Bus Tnp to Yorkdale; to Amelia Lancaster, for a splendid report;' to -May Buriey for opening ber bouse for our Annual Pot-iuck Luncheon. The reading of the "Mary Stewart Collect," losed the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stapleton and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stapleton were among those at the Dinner and Dance, in the Forum Restaurant, Friday evening, in honor of tbe birtbday of Mr. Wm. Hale, Junior.
