NESTLETON- CAESAREA Pink Shoppe Re-opens Mildred and Bill Fortune have been very busily en- gaged the past two weekends preparing the Pink Shoppe, Nestleton, for their re-open- ing. Last year over forty people contributed their hand crafted articles of a wide variety to the store. This weekend Mildred has been in the process of unpacking and pricing the beautiful new items for the year. She says it is just like Christmas and has a "ball" every Spring opening the new "goodies". The Pink Shoppe is a lovely place to browse whether you are talented in crafts yourself or just enjoy seeing the handwork of others. North Nestleton Church Christian Family Sunday was observed at the United Church on Sunday morning. Rev. Victor Parsons present- ed a fine message - the theme being "Up Front" and based his topic on Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 13 and Matthew 18: 1-6. In the choir, Miss Gail Malcolm sang "The Joy of the Lord", a very appropriate anthem for Family Sunday with Mrs. Gwen Malcolm at the organ. Ushers were Mr. Grahame Fish and Mr. Norman Mairs. District Annual Mrs. J. Wygerde, Mrs. Wm. Bolan, Mrs. M. Firlit, Mrs. L. Malcolm, Mrs. F. Dayes, and Mrs. A. Beacock repre- sented Nestleton W.I. at Durham West District Annual held at Maple Grove on Wednesday, May 9th. Faith Festival Miss Gail Malcolm attended the Faith Festival held in Northminister Church, Oshawa, Friday and Satur- day, May 11 and 12th. The inspiring story tellers were Lynn Tomlinson, Steven Allin, Terry Smith and Rev. Norman McKenzie. All delegates report a meaningful two days, and came home with much food for thought. Caesarea Euchre Club Due to the unseasonable heat wave, plus the many activities throughout the area, attendance was smaller than usual. Prize winners were lst - Olive Frayer, 2nd - Ralph Day, 3rd - Ken Minshall. A special Mother's Day prize was won by Eva MacDonald. The euchre will be held next Wed. evening as usual and hopefully the expert card players will be on hand to lend the needed support and inter- est. The Ladies' Auxiliary work hard to make these evenings enjoyable - a yard sale will be held in June - more information at a later date. Ladies' Aid Nestleton Ladies' Aid met in the Presbyterian Church Hall on Thursday afternoon. The President, Mrs. Howard Lee welcomed all to the meeting which opened with the favorite hymn, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", followed by the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. S. McNeeley led the Devotional period dealing with "Contentment" and a prayer for ill members. Miss Ruth Proutt, Secretary treas. read the minutes and the Financial report. Mrs. Lee thanked the members for their baking donations to the Hospital Spring Fair. Appreciation was extended for cards, visits, Easter hiles and fruit from folks remembered during illness and cards were signed to tbose still on the sick list. Mrs. George Heaslip will tend to flower purchases. The Program Convener cen- tered her program around Mother's Day. Mrs. George Heaslip read "Home" the joys of coming home after a vacation. Mrs. Fred Dayes read "Old Time Sunday Sings" - the family gatbered around the piano singing favorite hymns. Mrs. Grant Thompson read, "A Parable for Mothers" the joy Mother feels in teaching ber family courage, strength and service to God. The favorite hymn "Dare to be a Daniel" and the Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting Tbe Ordination Service for Miss Dorothy Bulmar will be held in Sonya Presbyterian Church on Friday evening, June 15th. Miss Bulmar's Graduation ceremony was observed last Wednesday evening at Convocation Hall. She has attended Knox College while serving on the Nestleton Sonya Charge for the past four years. Nestleton Presbyterian Church At the Sunday morning service Miss Dorothy Bulmar presented a splendid message taking as her topic "Take Nothing for your Journey". The scripture lessons - Exodus 3: 1-6, and Luke 9: 1-6. Pancake Breakfast The Pancake breakfast for Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13th held in Nestleton Com- munity Centre, was very successful with a goodly number of folk interested in a substantial breakfast partic- ipating. Hopefully we'll have more of these community efforts in the future. Reminder Don't forget the Nestleton U.C.W. Spring supper to be held this Friday in the Community Centre. Social News Miss Jacqueline Heeney spent the past weekend at her cottage at Scugog Point. Jacqueline teaches school in Brampton, Ontario and the residents of the Scugog Pt. area are pleased to extend a warm welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lang- feld, Willowdale, visited his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Donneral, Nestleton, on Mother's Day. Mrs. Langfeld is leaving for a months holiday in England next week. Mr. Victor Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Malcolm, Tracy, Bradley and Derrick attended Orono Church Sunday morning to see James Malcolm, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. James Kent bap- tised. Mrs. Victor Malcolm attended Janetville Church for the baptising of Laura Michelle, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Malcolm. Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Victor Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs Vernon Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. Alywin Haines and Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Kent were guests at a niece's wedding in Yelverton Church on Satur- day. Miss Norma Jean Coin became the bride of Mr. Jerry Semeszuzus of Yelverton. Very "best wishes" are extended to the happy couple. Weekend company with Sam and Mabel at the farm were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cawker, Scarborough, and Professor Kenneth Cawker and wife Ivana of London, Ont. Mr. Alan Cawker, Mark and Christie of Oshawa were Mother's Day guests. The Trees for Canada Day The Cubs and Scouts tree planting project went off well, representatives from the various groups were present, parents provided transporta- tion and assisted in the operation.
