Trhe town's planning depart- ment and planning committee were presenting the draft development plan for the hamlet to the public. Edwards said the hamlet could support some limited development to the north and south because of its vitality as a community and generally good soil conditions. Minimum lot size for any new development would be 3/ of an acre thereby reducing the possibility of health prob- lems occurring due to prob- lems with septic tank systems, and reducing the draw down effects concentrated develop- ment has on ground water supplies. The actual number of dwel- ling unîts in Tyrone now totals 49. The amount of growth proposed would double this number, explained Edwards, but he stressed it would be staged over a number of years. Several residents were concerned that with this many people coming into the ham- let, more recreational facili- ties may be needed. If there are more houses, there may not be enough additional land for more basebail fields, tennis courts and other facili- ties, they suggested. Edwards said he thinks there is enough parkland in Tyrone now to accommodate future needs. The plan notes the proposed expansion of the Tyrone Community Centre and says "at present the OBITUARY EMILY MAY MAIRS 111 for three weeks, Emily May Mairs, aged 87, passed away in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Tuesday, May lst, 1979. "Pornography degrades sex and humanity. Sex is an extremely delicate part of our human relationships. When yo ssault that and degrade it, you make it an animalistic act and it is an assauît on our humanity generaily.
