I must apologize to some local citizens for errors I have made in recent news columns. First of all to Dean Joncas, who is president of the Pontypool and District Soft- ball League - not Dean Fisk, who by the way resides in Ottawa. Also to Herman and Marion Webb, who I had mentioned were grandparents twice over within a month. They are extremely happy with the birth of a grand- daughter, Jennifer Lynn Carole Truax of Lindsay. Sometimes I think I'm getting too absent-minded for writing the local gossip. Does anyone want to take over? We welcome the Skelly family to Pontypool. They have moved into the new house on the 4th line - formerly built and owned by Brian Tuthill. Winnie and Gordon Strong had a very successful farm sale on Saturday. The ladies of the Ballyduff community served lunch. We understand that Murray Porter has rented the Strong farm. Belated birthday wishes are sent to Joe McCullough, who celebrated his 94th birthday on Monday, June 4th. Local Ball Scores We have six local ball teams this year. As it is impossible for me to attend all games I would appreciate it if the coaches or some designated player would pass along the scores after each game. The Bantam Boys had two games this past week, defeating Cavan 23-21 and losing to Bailieboro 14-13, the Senior Girls had a tie game with Janetville and were defeated by Yelverton; the Pontypool Ladies were defeated by the two Millbrook teams and the Pontypool Generals defeated Nestleton 8-7 on Tuesday night and on Sunday Brent Fallis pitched Pontypool to a 14-0 win over Port Perry. Brent also had a bases loaded home run to his credit. There is no Richardson Farms team this year. The Generals play in Nestleton on Sunday, June 17th at 2 p.m.
