Mrs. Challice will long be remembered by ber many friends, as she bas beeni an active member in cburcb affairs,' Women's Insti- tute, and senior citizens, and always was a willing partici- pant in anything she under- took. "To have a friend is to be one", and Mrs . Challice cer- tainly followed that motto. Rev. Bonsteel and Mrs. Bonsteel of Stratford were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank White. At the Millbrook fair- grounds on July 1, a Fire- works Display as part of the Centennial Celebrations will be viewed. Volunteers would be most appreciated to belp witb a Bible Vacation Scbool during tbe summer months. It will be in Mllbrook and one in Cavan if: enough teachers, craft supervisors, games directors, refresbment convenors are available. Mr. .and, Mrs.. .FrankWhite,,- spent a day witb Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brooks and Mrs. Clayton Curtis of Frankford. Rev. Wainwrigbt used John 14:22,23 for bis text on Sunday. It seemed a peculiar answer to Judas' question and yet it was a perfect one. Jesus bad come and spoken to tbe disciples and told them He was leaving, and the disciples tbougbt the kingdomn of beaven would arise and tbey would bave a place of autbority in it, but Jesus declared that before tbey could live with God in the kingdom tbey must love and obey Hlm. Although the disciples kept tbe command- ments tbey didn't possess a perfect love, in fact, tbey all denied Jesus and failed Hlm. Tbe disciples didn't menit the Holy Spirit and neither do we, and yet it is there witb us. When we are touched by the cross we know Jesus and our life will be filled with the Holy Spirit. Can we dispeli pride and bate fromn our bearts and instead love Him and keep His commandments faithfully? Bethany Due to lack of interest the planned bus trip to Toronto was cancelled and instead the U.C.W. enjoyed a lovely luncheon at Georgina Scott's lawn. Few were present, but the higb spirits and marvel- bous weather compensated. Mrs. Scott opened the meet- ing with a verse "Take life as you find it, but don't leave it that way." Correspondence consisted of tbank you notes from Eddy McGill, Karen Rowan, and Mrs. Helen Beer expressed appreciation for support given ber for the Sunday Scbool. Tbe dates for two bridal sbowers were confirmed: Instali New Officers for Legion Ladies Auxiliary will be on June 24th and U.C.W. will pay expenses. A vote of thanks was extended to Margaret Weatherilt, who donated her May 24th prize money to the Sunday School. Rhonda Wringe was chosen to go to Quin-Mo-Lac Camp this summer. The worship was conducted by Mrs. Helen Beer with the story of Daniel being the centre of meditation. Daniel, high placed in the court of his country, chose to ignore the king's orders and continued to kneel and pray to his God, and God did not abandon him. Today, we can stili choose and we do so to illustrate our freedom,. We composed a litany and thanked God for freedom, of praising, praying, singing, reading the Bible anytime and anywhere. In many countries Christians must hide to pray and read. Bibles are smuggled in by audacious saints. Mrs. Jeanne MeMahon and Mrs. Ruth Jennings led in a lively sing-song, and an amus- ing contest entitled 'Discover' by unscrambling numerous words pertaining to "What Grandma Missed." The president pronounced the benediction and wished each a wonderful summer. Congratulations to Jessie Fisk on the success of her p=lse book "Memories". Mnofus have purchased them as gifts for grand- children, nieces and nephews, who have enjoyed relating to farm life in general. Blackstock Senior Citizens may not be an active group, as they say, but they certainly have the ability to attract other seniors and some not seniors, to their euchre parties. Tuesday evening the 20 tables were filled with eager participants and the 10 games were played in dlock- like manner with good humour and a friendly spirit of goodwill. They don't even close for the' summer holidays, but instead each Tuesday evening is set aside for a "whole-hearted, jolly" game of euchre, and surround- ing towns are represented as people arrive from Oshawa, Bowmanville, Port Perry, Tyrone and even Bethany, and probably other areas too, and it's concluded by a delicious lunch!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery from surgery to Mrs. Mary Finney. May ber health be much improved in the future. A well-known couple, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Green, are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary on June 23rd.
