Integrate Handicapped At Day Care Centre Here The integration of mentally handicapped children into regular day care problems at the Edna Thomson Day Care Centre is working satisfactorily. In fact, regional councillors were 2told recently that' the program bas worked out s0 well that it should be continued. "We consider it's excellent. We feel that both segments of the child population can benefit from this," said W.D. Johns, commissioner of social services. In a report to Regional Council ho said that he would like to see the program extended to other day care centres in the Region, however, ho doubted that sufficient space would be available. "If we continue to segregate mentally handicapped children, ... we cannot expect to integrate them into society, " said Mr. Johns.
