Next Monday we're going swimming and lawn bowling in Port Perry . Tuesday is farm day, at Caroline's and Vaherie's farms. On Wednesday afternoon, Biackstock Playground will be going to Brignal's Ambulance Service in Port Ferry. Here the chiidren wihl get a real close look and a' better understanding of an ambu- lance, its job and its driver. To make this event possible send your child with 50 cents for the cost of the bus! On Thursday, August 2nd the Blackstock Piaygrond are going to MacDonald Land in Oshawa for a tour. We need parents to drive chiidren to this because a chartered bus is too expensive for the number of chihdren we have. The tour is at two o'chock. On Friday, Biackstock is going to try to have a car wash if ahl goes weIl! Due to the awareness-ïof the water-situa- tion we must find a weii first. Look for posters! Jim and Florence Brown from Climax, Sask. are visit- ~iI - BLACKSTOCK SUMMER PLAYGROUND Jean Horton Weli folks we have oniy two weeks to go but Blackstock Piayground is stihi going strong. Last Monday, our entire piayground ail enjoyed a refreshing swim at Birdseye Pool in Port Ferry. On Thursday, the chiidren parti- pated in Greenbank and Seagrave fund raising event. It was a "Slave for a Morning". The chiidren went around the village and were hired as a "slave" for 25 cents an hour. They did such tasks as picking stones and appies, gardenîng, dusting and even stocking some of the shelves of one of our local stores. The chiidren and staff of Backstock Piayground wouid ike to thank the local mer- chants and others, who hehped us by hiring a slave or two. On Thursday afternoon the older chihdren enjoyed roller skating in Port Perry.' On Friday, Blackstock Play- ground was one of many whom were invited to Port Ferry for a mini Field Day. The children were put into teams and enjoyed such events as sack races and obstacle courses. After the completion of the events, two tearns from Seagrave were awarded rîbbons for pacing thîrd and second. A, team from Backstock was victorious and came out on top to finish in first place.
