Learn to Relax and Exercise at Vis ual Arts Centre Part of the visual arts program includes a course in relaxation and exercise. Twenty-two participants in this 1-week session meet Wednesday afternoons at the Visual Arts Centre, Soper Creek. The next ten week program will commence in January. Course instructor is Mrs. Aldorine Haagmans (foreground) shown here demonstrating the art of relaxation and physical exercise to the class. The Soper -Creek Photo- graphy Club meets at The Visuai Arts Centre every Tuesday night from seven o'clock until nine-thirty. The club started one year ago with a group of the membership building a very operative darkroom and viewing room in the basement of The Mill. Gradually equipment has been added which includes two enlargers and supplies to produce a color print from a slide. In the early weeks of the club the membership started at step one, just taking black Save and white pictures and trying to improve their composition and framing. Then they start- ed developing their own black and white films and printing contact sheets for review. During group discussions prints were selected for straight black and white enlargements. As the club members grew in experience enlargements were printed using different techniques such as texture screens, cropping and shading, and sepia-toning. Several- members have started into taking slides and printing some to prints. This is a real accomplishment for the amateur photographer. Once a month there has been instruction sessions by Rick Gould on composition, fram- ing, slide mounting and cropping cibrachrome print- ing. There has also been field trips in night photography to Port Darlington Marina and Bowmanviile main street, to Van Belle Gardens to study close-up photography of plants using naturai lights and flash. The group also took a fail color tour to Fenelon Falls to the summer residence of member Pam White and her family. With the faîl and winter months at hand a couple of events are being planned for the public. A siide presenta- tion is being assembled on events around the area that the club members have photo- graphed. These slides wili be shown to the senior citizens, nursing home residents and shut-ins durinig the Christmas season. Aiso there will be an oo on' Insulation end Labor Yes ...
