Nothing went right for tbe Delta Faucet squad and it was a game Worth forgetting. Markham struck quickly wîth just 1:37 gone in the gamc ta take tbe lead. Taras got that anc back at the .3:29 mark when Greg Martin toak a pass from Eddie Paradis and streaked down the ice, depositing a bigh wrist shot inta the top corner of tbc net. From then on bowever, it was no contest as Markham went abead 2 - 1 on a power play goal at 6:49 with Taras and Greg Martin in the penalty box. The second pcriod saw the Bowmanville boys take three more penalties and Markham capitalized on the power-play twice more. At the end of two periods Markham led 4 -1. Tbe tbird period was just a continuation of the second as Taras' frustrations mounted and they received three more penalties and Markham scor- ed threc mare goals, anc on the power-play. Penalties were the Taras' downfall in this game and the boys must start ta keep their cool on the ice if tbey are ta have any success against their appo- nents this season. Tie With Newcastle On Sunday, Navember 4, the Delta Faucet Minar Pee Wees hosted Newcastle and the twa teams skated ta a 1 - 1 tie. The game featured vcry close checking by bath teams with each team bemming the apposition in their own zone for long periads. Poor execu- tion in their passing plays and the inability ta move the puck out of their own zone properly bad the Taras in trouble, especially In the second period, when the sloppy play resulted in Newcastle taking a 1 -O0lead at the 3:44 mark. In the third period, Taras began ta move better and the mamentum swung their way. Thcy kept the pressure on Newcastle continually and this resultcd in Newcastle taking a penalty with 5:43 ta play. Coach Warren Townsley immediately sent out a power play unit of Mike Knigbt, Peter Hughes, Mark Hickey, Warren Short and Jay Kelly and tbey wastcd very little time in tying the score whcn Warren Short fed a pass ta Peter Hughes, who carried deep into the Newcastle zone and slipped a pass ta Mark Hickey, who sent a quick wrist shot inta the net at the 10:00 mark. For the remaining five minutes, Taras kept sustained pressure an Newcastle but would nat get the, go ahead goal. A better, effort today! Newcomer Barry Newhook played bis first game as a Tara.
